Dover is in the southwest corner of Shawnee County, Kansas. The town has a rich history and many of the original settlers of the community still have descendents who call Dover home.

How to Find Us

Sommerset Hall Cafe is in Dover, Kansas, located on K-4 Highway, a part of the Flint Hills Scenic Byway. To find Sommerset Hall Cafe from Topeka, take K-4 west 15 miles to the town of Dover.

The Native Stone Scenic Byway

The Native Stone Scenic Byway is located on K-4 just west of Topeka and travels through Eskridge and Lake Wabaunsee and then continues on Highway 99 to Alma. The Scenic Byway is 48-miles. The Scenic Byway offers travelers an unchanged view of the tallgrass prairie of the Flint Hills. The route is popular for leisure driving, motorcycle rides and even bicyclists. It’s a winding route with lots of Flint Hills scenery including old stone fences, native pasture and stone crafted buildings. The annual Symphony in the Flint Hills is usually held nearby each June. About the Sommerset Hall Building

Alfred Sage built the Sommerset Hall Building in the late 1800’s. He named it Sommerset Hall after Sommersetshire, Bristol, England, from which his family came.
After 1905, the building was known as the I.O.O.F. Hall.
